Tips for saving on health insurance:
- Remember, health insurance companies are in business to make money. They are not going to insure you with pre existing
health ailments.
- Don't lie on an application. If the carrier finds out, they can deny your claims based on your misstatement.
- Give complete answers on your application, so the underwriter does not assume the worst. Let them know you are off the medication and no longer being treated for the previous condition and released from your doctors care.
- Eat right, work out, don't smoke, eat your veggies, etc. You cannot change a poor medical and health family history, but you can
watch your health now.
- Ask your health insurance agent to do an anonymous or pre approval if you have some very minor health issues. If he refuses, go somewhere else.
- Let your doctor know the insurance company will be requesting records. I've seen people get denied coverage simply because their old doctors medical department didn't want to forward the information because of disorganization or lack of the insurer to pay the records fee.
- If you have a history of drug or alcohol treatment, found out what time period that you need to be clean before applying for health insurance coverage.
